Guided Tours

Take a walk through UNESCO World Heritage with an authorized Gotland guide.

Your Guide

When I guide, people and stories emerge from the shadows. Each walk becomes a blend of past and present. I guide with living history – personal fates, surprising connections, and human drama. Don’t be surprised if music and song are part of the experience.

About Visby

Visby is a UNESCO World Heritage site, surrounded by the medieval wall built in the 1300s. A unique place. The city is called the city of roses and you’ll find them throughout the small winding roads, secret alleyways, and against a skyline of explosive sunsets and ruins.

Long ago, in medieval times, Franciscan monks in St. Katarina monastery sat writing by candlelight. They documented a bustling world with merchants from across the Baltic meeting in the square. Germans and Russians, Balts and Gutes doing business in narrow alleyways. They wrote about the life they saw around them, not knowing that centuries later, Swedish leaders would gather in those same alleyways every summer.

You can feel time passing as you walk through the streets. If you listen carefully you can hear the whispers in the wind. Have you heard? A woman is imprisoned for witchcraft! In the 1700s, another woman, Greta Donner, ran her trading house from the square that now bears her name, Donners Plats. She built her business in a world where women’s voices were rarely heard.

But Visby is so much more. It’s full of culture, beauty, and crime. Yes, some of the latest century’s best crime novels are set right here by authors such as Anna Jansson and Henning Mankell. This is also where Pippi Longstocking ran through the streets in the 1960s, and a place that shaped some of Sweden’s funniest women.

Gotland

Gotland is Sweden’s largest island, located in the Baltic Sea. For over 1,000 years it has been a meeting place for cultures from across northern Europe.

The island is known for its dramatic limestone formations, medieval churches, and endless beaches. Vikings sailed from here. Hanseatic merchants built their fortunes here. Artists and musicians have found inspiration in the landscape for generations.

Today, Gotland is one of Sweden’s most popular destinations. Whether you arrive by ferry or plane, you step into a world where history is everywhere—in the stone walls, the windswept beaches, and the stories waiting to be told.
